While experiencing years of dry seasons and experimenting with ways to get low to the

ground and get the crop onto the platform, where it counts!

We have come up with a simple and cost affective way.

It has been proven to be a help with soy beans, mung beans, navy beans, barley and wheat, Chick peas and Lupins.

If you understand how the beard of wheat and barley restricts direction, the bristles on the "Bristle Crop-Holder" works the same way!

The vibra brush is an important optional extra, it just walks the crop up as the long bristles get pulled side to side the ends push up and back down to push up with each stroke of the knife.

With thirty years experience, farming on the Darling Downs (Southern Queensland, Australia) has provided many challenges. The dry seasons of the last twenty years or more have been the most challenging of all, for all of us, but these things happen and we can just, do the best we can.

While using the machinery, it is often a time that ideas would come to mind, being handy with the tools, a prototype was made and put to use, the first design was too restrictive and wouldn't allow the crop to the knife, so with a few modifications, another version of the idea was tried and it worked quite well.

One could tell the difference when one of Bristle Crop-Holders came loose and was lost, any short cut crop, went straight to the ground.

We all like to boast and take photos of those beaut big crops, but many times we are not allowed to have them, and we need to get every grain we can.

Most headers seem to have a three inch hole spacing, but some have a four inch sickle spacing. Individual mounting brackets, that cater for the three inch or four inch knife stroke, so the "Bristle Crop-Holder” can fit many different types of fronts.

A machinery dealer has described the "Bristle Crop-Holder", as good poison, when it comes to the draper fronts, that are common for today’s harvesting, as you can see by the pictures on the left, how the short crop is left sitting on the knife, just to fall to the ground, because the reel can not collect the crop, as there is a step up to the draper.

With the extra width of the modern fronts, it is harder to get close to the ground as well, that the heads would often be lost.

After market suppliers have told stories of guys calling them, demanding a solution to this problem.

By having the bristles around both sides of the sickle guard  the crop is held up as it gets cut, then as the reel picks at the cut crop and sends it up and if it doesn't quite make it to the platform, the next row of bristles hold it up further, until the reel has another pick at it, to finally have it on the platform or draper.

The "Bristle Crop-holder", are on display at various dealerships and if the displays can't be seen, we will be sending samples to any genuine request.
